Trend: Riesling and Pinot Noir from Germany gain popularity online
The study was executed with the help of GOOGLE Trends. It counts how often a particular search-term is entered relative to the total search-volume across various regions of the world, and in various languages. The improved hit rate was reviewed for the past decade (10y). It correlates with YouTube- (app. 150.000 views p.a.) and The Institute's Homepage growth rates. www.germanwines.de page impressions were extended by 50 percent in 2016, the visits progressed by 40 percent compared to the previous year.
The German Wine Institute has been multiplying media reach and -rank for 'Wines of Germany' by means of 15 individual portals and some 20 social media channels (multi-channel-strategy) since 2009. It continuous to gain new readers, popularity and attention for the mother land of Riesling, e.g. by means of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well as word-of-mouth (WOM) marketing.
