Restaurant Mesa (Mitte-Tiergarten)

At the Mesa you should not bypass the house wine as “house wine” here means: It is made exclusively for the house. For some years now a renowned winegrower from the Pfalz has cultivated fine Riesling on a few small parcels exclusively for the restaurant.

Gently matured in barrel, a wonderfully soft and mineral Riesling called Mesa has been created, an all-rounder, which makes a great match for smoked butterfish with fennel on a fruity beetroot bed or Tafelspitz (pot roast).

The restaurant serves German tapas, which – as the Spanish name “mesa” reveals – are enjoyed and shared in large groups at the central wooden table. Illuminated in the background is a wall-to-ceiling wine rack. For exclusive applies not only to the specially-created Mesa wine, but also to the fact that it is the only place in Berlin where the German Wine Institute runs a Riesling Lounge.

Different Rieslings and other grape varieties from all of Germany´s 13 wine regions are exhibited in the wine rack like artwork. Guests and innovative German winegrowers regularly come together here at the large table to chat and try exciting wines and creative tapas.
